Superman vs Batman Movie - Ben Affleck’s “tired, weary and seasoned” Bruce Wayne suits up as Batman to hold Superman accountable. And we thought Christian Bale's Batman was buff. Director Zack Snyder showed off his version of the crime-fighting superhero Tuesday on Twitter with the first images of Ben Affleck as Batman in the upcoming sequel to "Man of Steel." project, which is being referred to as "Batman vs. Superman," is the first time the two superheroes will be on the big screen together. Henry Cavill, who bore the "S" on his chest for "Man of Steel," will again play the man from Krypton. Snyder's "Man of Steel" sequel is scheduled to arrive in theaters in May 2016. Zack Snyder's sequel to Man of Steel is shaping up to be a who's who of DC characters. Jesse Eisenberg stars as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman and of course Ben Affleck will be Batman.

Other than casting announcements and a rescheduled release date, however, official news on the movie has been relatively quiet, but Snyder unveiled the first image of Ben Affleck as Batman today, right alongside his new Batmobile Since Affleck is rumored to be playing an older Batman in the upcoming film, it may not be surprising that Snyder would draw on Miller's grittier designs. Meanwhile, over at DC, there are big projects on the horizon; not only are multiple DC comic properties slated to become modern TV series by late 2014 (The Flash, Gotham, and Constantine chief among them), but director Zack Snyder is putting together his Man of Steel sequel, currently known by the public as Batman vs. Superman, for a theatrical release in 2016.

During a recent interview with Forbes, Snyder indicated that was an active player in the push for Batman to serve as, in essence, the antagonist opposite Henry Cavill’s Kal-El in the Man of Steel sequel, partly due to Snyder’s own love for the character – which, to no small degree, was strengthened by his admiration for how Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns comic book approaches the superhero and his world. DC Comics’ New 52 designs for Batman and Wonder Woman could have an influence on their looks in Batman vs. Superman, much like Cavill’s outfit as Supes takes its cues from the New 52 iteration (see: no red trunks, more armor-like costume, etc.).
